The NSCDA-NJ, staff, and volunteers at Peachfield would like to invite the members of its support organization, the Friends of Peachfield, for a festive winter’s fête. Join us at Peachfield for an afternoon of food, music, and festive activities surrounded by candlelight and a fire in the hearth.

Candlemas meant many things for different cultures and religious believers. Our Candlemas Christmas party will share the many meanings of the celebration in a 15 minute presentation, delivered on the hour, in the Great Room. Candles will be located throughout the building to guide visitors through the permanent and changing exhibits that connect Peachfield’s past to the present. Explore the Holiday Exhibition at Peachfield, featuring holiday traditions throughout Peachfield’s history as a colonial, Quaker, and New Jersey farmstead.

Holiday refreshments and sweets, as well as warm seasonal beverages, will be available in the dining room.

candy station will be available for visitors to build their own goodie bag, in honor of the Scottish tradition of Candlemas. (John Skene, the first Freemason in the colonies was a Scottish colonist who first purchased and named the lands at Peachfield.)

A candle dipping display station will be set up for visitors to observe how the craft of candle dipping was done in colonial times, guests can take home a hand-made candle with them on a first-come-first-serve basis. ** Previously we had advertised a dip-your-own candle station. We apologize for the change.
