INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES


The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in The State of New Jersey (NSCDA-NJ) is pleased to announce available internship programs for 2022. Opportunities are available at Peachfield in Westampton and the Old Schoolhouse in Mount Holly, for high school and college level students interested in history, education, communications, material culture, landscape design, linguistics, nonprofit administration, architectural design, historic preservation or a related field. Each program is available for internship credit. All applicants are asked to provide internship, practicum, or volunteer hour paperwork upon applying for a position with NSCDA-NJ, if they wish to count the program towards credit hours. 

Oral History Intern
Session 1: January 31 – April 8, 2022
Session 2: May 23 – July 29, 2022
Remote Work Optional, Onsite Work Encouraged

Peachfield is continuing its Oral History Project starting in January 2022. The Oral History Intern will meet with Dames, volunteers, and past/present staff to record their experiences with the site and its programs. The Oral History Intern will assist with video recording, transcribing recordings into text, and translating materials into Spanish and Mandarin (as able). At the conclusion of the internship, participating individuals will receive name recognition on the NSCDA-NJ website, social media pages and quarterly newsletter. Individuals with a background in linguistics, audio-visual equipment, history, or a related field are encouraged to apply. Deadline to apply for Session 1 is January 10, 2022. Deadline to apply for Session 2 is March 18, 2022.

Education Intern
May 23 – July 29, 2022
Remote Work Optional

Peachfield and the Old Schoolhouse are very unique historic sites in Burlington County that require creative, inclusive, and innovative programs to complement the needs of their communities. The Education Intern will work with the Program and Development Coordinator to create and facilitate programs from May to August 2022. The Education Intern will be trained to make introductions at events, lead site tours, and participate in seasonal programming. Individuals with a background in Spanish, Mandarin, or French are encouraged to apply, as well as those with a background in education, history, or public speaking. Deadline to apply is March 18, 2022.

Summer Camp Intern
June 20 – July 8, 2022
Onsite at Peachfield
Peachfield will host a week-long day camp for individuals ages 7-14, from June 27 – July 1, 2022. Camp runs from 9:30AM -3PM at Peachfield in Westampton, and is held indoors and outdoors. The Summer Camp Intern will work alongside the Program and Development Coordinator to prepare camp lesson plans, materials and daily schedules. The Intern will be responsible for communicating updates with volunteers and counselors, distributing camp materials, and leading activities as needed. The Summer Camp Intern must be onsite from 9AM-3:30PM from June 27 – July 1, 2022. Additional hours will vary. Reliable transportation is required. Individuals with experience/interest in camp counseling, team leadership, education, history, art, or recreation are encouraged to apply. Deadline to apply is June 1, 2022.
